When you write a book, you never know who, if anyone, is actually going to read it! My prayer was that someone would not only read it, but also start praying for and bringing awareness to vocations at their parish.
Each diocese has a Vocation Director, and in the US, each one received a copy of Hundredfold: A Guide to Parish Vocation Ministry but not in Canada. I heard nothing for two agonizing months, but in August, I received this email from Canada:
As diocesan vocations director, I have wanted to establish individual parish vocation ministry for some time now, but I was always worried about how I was going to sustain these groups, and to ensure they have proper resources, formation and ideas. Your book and website answered those concerns (and prayers!). This September, I am offering 6 training sessions in the various regions of the diocese of London, Ontario, Canada, for all of our parishes to begin using your book and resources. So, God willing, by October our 116 parishes will begin their pre-launch phase of ministry, and each will have received a copy of your book. I will keep you posted on our progress, and please keep us in your prayers as well!
WOWOWOWOWOWOW! I was in tears reading this amazing affirmation! Fr. Patrick bought Hundredfold on his own to read and then bought them for all the parishes in the diocese, too! My world was spinning in the best possible way!
Throughout this journey, whenever I am in doubt or in need of affirmation about the work I have undertaken, God sends me, what a dear friend described to me as a Kiss from Heaven! Fr. Patrick had no idea what a blessing his words had been for me and the mission of Vocation Ministry! God bless all Vocation Directors around the world, who work day in and day out helping young men and women find their calling in life.
God bless you, too!
St. Alphonsus Liguori, pray for us!
