I shared with you the story about being at the NCDVD conference and meeting Fr. Eric Scanlan, the assistant Vocation Director for the Diocese of Venice, Florida. He was the only priest who I told that I received a grant from the Scanlan Foundation, only to find out afterwards that his name is Fr. Eric Scanlan and his great, great, great aunts donated money for this foundation.
That Holy Spirit moment was one of a few real turning points in my ministry. I felt in my heart that God was affirming the path that Vocation Ministry was takking! Two months after that meeting, Fr. Eric became the Vocation Director and asked me to come to Venice, Florida to hold two workshops. I could not wait to bring this ministry to Florida!
Besides Venice being in a beautiful part of Florida, along the west coast of the state, the people were so welcoming and ready to do the work of vocations.
Venice’s Bishop Frank Dewane made a point to be at each workshop, explaining why this movement to promote vocations at the parish is much needed! He said that Vocation Ministry is “…a paradigm shift for the way diocese and parishes can work to promote a culture of vocations.” Wow!
After finishing the first workshop, Bishop Dewane asked if I could come back to Venice to inspire the clergy there! YES was my answer!
I am so inspired by the openness to Vocation Ministry around the nation! Thank you, Bishop, Fr. Eric, and the people of Venice, Florida!
Come, Holy Spirit, Come!
