"Our Parish Vocations Ministry (PVM) has a number of annual activities but none more powerful than prayer. We adopted the Serran 31 Club program to, foremost, pray individually yet be a member of a team with a singular focus. We were also looking for a visual tool to help recruit more prayer warriors for our cause for vocations.
We transformed the large Serran poster into an 8 ½ x 11 template that each member can carry around in a wallet or purse. This allows us to readily talk with our fellow parishioners at the Knights of Columbus pancake breakfast or over doughnuts and coffee after Mass, for example. We can show them our concept of a 'prayer team' with our visual and then invite them to write their name on the day of their choosing. We then forward the updates (via e-mail or personally at the next monthly PVM meeting) to the central keeper of the calendar for re-publication to all members. This invitation process helps make the explanation easier, shows them the significant number of parishioners praying for vocations, and helps keep our request for help more personal and private.
The side benefit is that it also allows the opportunity to talk about our other PVM activities and encourage individuals to join our prayer and action team."
