Spiritual Adoption of a Seminarian
While grateful for a seminarian’s desire to serve Christ and His Church so intimately, his journey to ordination can include moments of uncertainty and spiritual struggle. Through prayerful support, the school community can become a vital source of encouragement and grace along this path.
This initiative invites teachers, students, or families to spiritually adopt a seminarian—committing to regular prayer and, when possible, occasional gestures of support such as cards or spiritual bouquets. Even if the seminarian is not from the local area, this personal connection helps remind him that he is not alone on his journey.
Depending on the size and structure of your school, the adoption program can take various forms. It might be as simple as a class choosing a name from a list and committing to pray, or as involved as coordinating ongoing communication between classrooms and seminarians. Regardless of the approach, this spiritual bond brings great encouragement to the seminarian and helps build a stronger culture of vocations within the school.
