Get to Know Your Clergy
Get to Know Your Clergy is a creative and engaging way to build connection between parishioners and those who serve them—priests and deacons. While clergy often lead from the sanctuary, many parishioners know little about the person behind the collar.
This activity invites priests and deacons to share personal stories, favorite saints, hobbies, and lighthearted facts through a simple questionnaire. Sharing this information in the bulletin, on social media, or on posters fosters a deeper sense of familiarity, appreciation, and community.
The vocation ministry can offer the same set of questions to each clergy member and highlight their responses throughout the year—especially during Vocations Week, ordination anniversaries, or appreciation events. These glimpses into their lives remind the parish that clergy are not only spiritual leaders but fellow travelers on the faith journey.
As Saint Augustine said, “With you I am a Christian; for you I am a bishop.” Sharing clergy stories builds relationships and helps the faithful receive their ministry with greater openness and trust. This activity also encourages young people to see priests and deacons as approachable role models of faith.
